It all depends on you and the type of pet you’ll be taking care of. Different requirements may apply for a dog compared to a rabbit or a turtle. However, you should ask the pet owner to provide items their pet will need. This may include their belongings such as a bed, blanket, toys, leash, collar, harness, muzzle, litter box, litter, scratching post, health booklet, water and food bowls, cage, or terrarium. Items that remind the pet of their home, like a worn piece of the owner's clothing or their usual food, can also be very helpful.
You may also require that all pets you look after are neutered/spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and non-venomous (in the case of spiders), among other conditions. The decision is entirely up to you.
Additionally, you can request a meet-and-greet with the pet beforehand to ensure there are no behavioural issues and that the care will go smoothly. Be sure to include all these requirements in the description of your offer for clarity.
